CAPVA Community School, Cite Soleil

Together with other organizations we serve the children of Capva. This is part of the community of Cite Soleil which is noted as “the poorest area in the western hemisphere”. The school started in September 2010 to serve the children in the Capva Tent City. In 2014 the tent city was dismantled as well as the school and the people moved to various surrounding neighborhoods. A piece of land was given to the community to build a permanent school building. By September 2014 the building was up and ready for students. There are approximately 175 students there who would not have the opportunity for an education if it were not for many people and organizations coming together to serve.
